Welcome, James!

The Hamilton Gay Men’s Chorus welcomes James Medeiros as Accompanist for the 2015-2016 season. Here’s what he has to say for himself:

J MedeirosJames is very excited to join the Hamilton Gay Men’s Chorus as accompanist for the upcoming season! A native of St. Catharines, James now calls Hamilton home after building many friendships in the city over the last several years. He has served as musical director for several shows in the Hamilton-Toronto area, including most recently Little Shop of Horrors, Suds, Godspell, Wedding Singer, The Last Five Years, White Christmas, Xanadu, The Rocky Horror Show and Blood Brothers. His absolute favourite composer and lyricist is Stephen Sondheim, although he is a sucker for Rogers and Hammerstein. James holds a Master’s degree in Music Literature and Performance – Voice, with a musical theatre specialization, from the University of Western Ontario. Notable roles include: Javert in Les Misérables, The Baker in Into the Woods and Collins in Rent. He has also been a featured guest soloist with several groups including Orchestra London, the Windsor Symphony Orchestra, Choralis Camerata and Chorus Niagara.

During the week, James commutes to Toronto for an office job in the health care sector. He has three cats and in his spare time he likes to collect/play retro video games and drink beer.

Welcome, James! We look forward to working with you this season.
